Sue works in Hair and Make-up and is my hair saviour!
Truth be told, Sue is actually Deborah’s HMU – and has been for years! Sue specialises in hair and makeup for book cover shoots and had worked with Deborah for her book many moons ago. Deborah loved what she did so much she then requested the BBC bring her onto set for Dragons’ Den and she’s done every series since!
Now on my first morning of Dragons’ (some five years ago now!) Deborah was stuck in traffic and running late, so to speed things along while Claire (my makeup artist) was doing my makeup, Sue offered to blow dry my hair. And it was THE BEST blow-out anyone had EVER done on my hair and I’ve been desperate for her to do my hair ever since.
Our call time into hair and make-up is always 8am, but bless lovely Sue, she comes in an hour early and does my hair before the day officially starts! So we do hair from 7am to 8am and then at 8am when Deborah comes in, Sue does her hair and then makeup while Claire does my makeup. I mean that is just going above and beyond!
And I now have lovely Sue travel the length and breath of the country with me when I need my hair done for something special. So, for example when we filmed Ultimate Wedding Planner she did my hair for every one of the weddings!
We have had so many laughs over the years and I’m forever stressing her out with my endless amount of Pinterest board ideas that I bombard her with. And the last couple of years (since Strictly) I’ve taken her stress levels to a new height with my newfound love of clip in extensions, hair pieces, wigs and now tapes.
But, she always embraces my ideas with a big smile (and maybe the odd eye roll!) and we have a giggle every morning while she’s doing my hair and I’m busy with a face mask on, eating my breakfast and trying to do a days’ worth of emails in the time it takes her to sort my bouffant!
I love Sue to bits and would never want to be without her!
