Sara established her company, Crafter’s Companion in 2005, whilst studying Business Management at the University of York. She graduated with First Class Honours and a business turning over more than half a million. Today, Crafter’s Companion has offices and warehouses in the US and UK, selling inspiring and innovative crafting products to customers around the world.
She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2016, receiving the honour for her services to the economy and business.
In 2019, Sara became the youngest female investor on BBC Dragons’ Den, joining a panel of highly esteemed business leaders. Pairing a warm-hearted nature with natural business acumen, Sara has starred in five series of the hit BBC show to date.
And in 2021 she realised a long-held dream to appear on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, partnering professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec.
A confident and comfortable presence, Sara is a popular TV personality, making frequent appearances on Loose Women and Steph’s Packed Lunch and appearing on BBC Morning Live both as a presenter and craft expert. In 2023 she starred in BBC show, Ultimate Wedding Planner, judging six real-life weddings alongside Raj Somaiya and Fred Siriex.
Her show, Making It with Sara Davies will air on the BBC in 2024, following and supporting inventors as they transform their ideas from pen and paper into real, sellable products.
She is also a beloved part of the TV shopping world, taking Crafter’s Companion products worldwide via networks such as HSN and QVC.
Passionate about her role in inspiring and supporting women in business, Sara provides mentorship, guidance and advice as part of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum. In 2021 she was appointed the North East Ambassador for Smart Works Newcastle, a charity supporting unemployed women into work through clothing and coaching.
She is the recipient of a number of awards for business and entrepreneurship including 2021’s Northern Power Women Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur and 2019’s NatWest Great British Entrepreneur of the Year (North East).
Her business, Crafter’s Companion, received the Queen’s Enterprise Award for International Trade in 2020 and International Business of the Year at the Federation of Small Businesses’ awards in 2019.
