Speaking at Peakefest – the business festival!

So it was a BIG morning this morning… I was giving the opening keynote speech at an incredible event called Peakefest – the only event of its kind that I’ve ever heard of. It’s a business conference with a difference – and that difference is it’s actually a festival for entrepreneurs (and aspiring entrepreneurs)!

Now, given that the audience was 98% women, I focused my talk around stories from my life that have really shaped who I am and my journey as a woman and a mam in business.

I talked about…

Mum-guilt  – how there is absolutely no place for it in this world and how I manage to overcome it.

Being present  – how I learned the importance of this at a critical moment in my life and how I implement it in everything I do.

Imposter Syndrome – when I suffer from it and how I deal with it (this one really hit hard with a lot of people in the audience!).

Self-care – why it’s important, how it’s so easy to deprioritise, and the tricks I’ve learned on how to fit it into my life.

Finding your tribe – how you’re a product of the people you surround yourself with and how to get it right!

There were people in the audience frantically scribbling down what I was sharing, and I could see from the looks on people’s faces how much they were identifying with what I was saying and the profound impact it was having on them – just knowing they weren’t the only ones managing these emotions and having a toolkit for dealing with them. It certainly ‘filled my cup up’ knowing I’d had such an impact on such an amazing group of women!

So I filled them up with energy and enthusiasm, then sent them on their merry way to have a fabulous festival weekend glamping, networking, and learning!
