I can’t believe this season of Dragons’ has come to an end, but I’ve still got time for one last BTS update and I’ve definitely saved the best for last with our amazing exec-producer Sam Davies (no relation I promise! We just both have an awesome surname!)
Sam was the series producer who recruited me and I can still remember my very first interview with her over five years ago! However, her time on the show started WAY before mine, back in 2013 as an edit producer. She was promoted to series edit producer in 2017 and then the overall series producer in 2018 and that year took the show all the way to the BAFTAs! (That was the year before I joined and I remember the team all being so proud that we’d been shortlisted!)
A few years ago (after a couple of really successful years for the show) she was promoted to exec-producer (for those of you who don’t live in telly-land like us, that’s the ‘top-dog’ job!) and in that time I’ve watched her just go from strength to strength and to take the show to new, dizzy heights.
There isn’t an area of the show she’s not an expert in – from the casting to managing the studio, overseeing the edit to managing 5 fiery dragons – she’s the glue that holds the whole show together.
She has an amazing air of professionalism about her combined with always being able to keep spirits high and have a laugh with everyone on set. She’s always composed, never stressed, efficient and creative and just embodies what it takes to be a successful women at the top of her game in the world of TV!
In this past year she’s driven the show to new heights – introducing a 6th chair for the first time ever, making space for a guest dragon, as well as giving the den a bit of a glossy makeover! Her vision, creativity and flair run through every fibre of the show and I’m so excited to be working alongside her for another series. She’s such an inspiration and a pleasure to work with and we’re so lucky to have her!
Watch this space for more amazing things to come under her leadership!
